Moi University students leaders have condemned the recent killing of Meru University students secretary general Evans Njoroge.
Njoroge was allegedly pursued and killed by the anti-riot police officers on Tuesday as he led other students in protesting against the institutions' move to reopen without addressing their grievances over increased fees."We want to condemn the recent killing of Evans Njoroge with the strongest terms possible. We call upon the government in conjunction with the Meru University administration to bring the perpetrators to book," said the Moi University student’s union chairman Isaac Choge in Eldoret town, Wednesday."Which mistake did the comrade commit for him to be shot, is representing the interests of our fellow students a mistake? If nothing will be done to get to the root cause of his death we will take law in our hands," added the Moi University secretary general Moses Tisa. They reiterated that they will work with students’ leaders from all universities across the country to ensure that Njoroge gets justice."We as the youth of Kenya and students need to stand up and fight for our rights and protect our comrades from these acts and it's time to end police brutality against students," noted Choge.Several leaders have called for thorough investigations into his killing. To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your Whatsapp number to 0740949990.
