Speaking during the fourth annual devolution conference at the Kisii county cultural center today, he said that the residents are spending much time and funds to travel to other facilities for medical care.

Hence Ongwae assured the residents that his government is doing everything possible to make sure that the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital has become a classic healthcare center in order to reduce the costs of traveling to the hospital like Moi Referal Hospital in Uasin Gishu county and the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.

"We want our people to access health services right here in Kisii county instead of using funds and time to go to other health facilities in the country for medical services," Ongwae said.

His idea was supported by the Kisii Central ward member of county assembly Mr Wilfred Monyenye who is also the chairperson of the health committee for Kisii county.

Ongwae also congratulated the county government over the steps which it has made over the recent days at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
