Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has openly rejected the call by religious leaders to avoid participating in harambees in churches.

Murkomen said they have a right to attend harambees. 

“No one will separate us from the pulpit because it is the second home to some of us. We will not be stopped from participating in church harambees,” said Murkomen.

This comes after the Catholic Church banned politicians from leading church harambees. 

The church warned its priests against allowing politicians to use the pulpit 
to campaign.

The church’s bishops raised concerns over what they describe as sliding back of the country due to politics of mudslinging and confrontation.
