The traders who held a meeting at the market ground on Wednesday added that they are under intense pressure to drop an ongoing case at the High Court where they have sued the county government accusing it of having a hand in the November 2015 arson attack on the market.

Led by their Chairman Thomas Kasyoki, the traders said that the county government is using intimidation tactics to silence the most vocal traders.

"We are not going to bow to pressure of any kind till we get justice. We are not going to surrender this market to a group of greedy people for self-enrichment," said Kasyoki.

Kasyoki added that the county government has been seeking to relocate them to the little known Kang'oki where a modern multi-million dumpsite is also being put up.

"We are not going to Kang'ooki and the governor should know that," he said.

On Monday, the traders held a demonstration to protest the arrest and charging of Mary Wamuyu, their colleague to answer to arson charges and destruction of Kamenu MCA Elizabeth Muthoni property last year.
