The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN), Kiambu branch has indicated that it will not take part in the strike, which its national Secretary General Seth Panyako has given a notice on.
Led by their branch Secretary General, Hillary Kibiriti, the nurses have said that the notice was given without consultation.
"The nurses in Kiambu County are of the view that the union also belongs to them and not the Secretary General alone, the secretary general has to consult members on important matters like calling for strikes so that we can give him a go ahead," said Kibiriti.
He also announced that more than 1000 nurses from Kiambu County have de-attached themselves from Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU), saying that Secretary General Francis Atwoli has no moral grounds to represent them having failed the flower farms workers.
"We have de-linked from Cotu. Atwoli has a big task to fight for the flower farm workers before he can purport to fight for us," added Kibiriti.
Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Secretary General Seth Panyako announced that nurses will go on strike on November 22 if the issues raised with the government will not have been addressed by then.
Kibiriti was speaking in Kiambu town on Wednesday during an officials meeting.
