Striking doctors in Nakuru County have remained unshakeable as local leaders call for dialogue between health workers and the county government.
The doctors downed their tools last week accusing the county government of failing to pay 32 of their colleagues posted by a liaison agency since April 2016.
Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) South Rift branch has maintained that the health care practitioners will not return to work until their grievances are addressed.
The county administration claimed their issues had been addressed and an agreement reached.
South Rift KMPDU acting secretary, Dr Hillary Kubai, speaking to a local paper said that the county government was yet to fulfill its promises.
“The county has been promising to pay the employees, a promise that was not forthcoming. It is also yet to effect promotions of the doctors as earlier agreed,” said Dr Kubai.
However, Nakuru county health executive Kabii Mungai said the doctors were paid on Wednesday and asked them to check their accounts.
“We have paid the medics and we are now working on a return to work formula,” said Dr Mungai.
