A recent report by the Ministry of Education that indicated rot in schools among them those in Nakuru County has seen Nakuru County Commissioner declare war on drug peddlers.
Speaking on Friday during this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations held at Afraha Stadium, County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha said drugs peddlers will face the law.
“The recent report from the Ministry of Education indicated that Nakuru was among the leading counties with drugs and substance abuse in schools. This has affected performance in schools and as security team we shall look at the report and act,” he said.
Nkanatha also warned illegal gangs operating in Nakuru such as confirm group which defrauds Kenyans through fake M-pesa messages.
The commissioner said the group operates in Kivumbini, Bondeni, Flamingo and Nakuru west.
“There is an illegal group called ‘confirm ‘and the law is going to be tough on them and any other illegal gang,” he said.
On the issue of corruption, the county Commissioner called on public officers to be diligent in their service.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui who commended the Head of State on his stand against graft.
“We will not sit down and watch as people plunder public funds,” he said.
The Governor also urged the public to volunteer information concerning corrupt county officials to allow action be taken.
