Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu has said that he will back Deputy President William Ruto's presidency in 2022.
Mr Waititu said that Mr Ruto has been loyal to President Uhuru Kenyatta and there was need of appreciating him.
"The DP is the most suitable candidate who will take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta and champion for the development projects that his boss will not have cleared," he said.
According to him, there was need of Nasa leader Raila Odinga backing Mr Ruto who supported him in 2007.
His sentiments come just a day after President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga agreed to work together after years of enmity.
On Saturday Mount Kenya leaders led by Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia said that they will back Mr Ruto's presidency.
Other leaders who spoke at the function include Kikuyu MP Kimani Inchungwa and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
