Nyeri Senator Eng. Ephraim Maina has assured Deputy President William Ruto that the people of central Kenya will support him in his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Speaking at the burial of the late Dr. Wahome wa Gakuru, Engineer Maina noted that Deputy President Ruto had firmly stood with President Uhuru all the time.
"We the people of Central have eyes and we have seen how you have supported President Uhuru," he said." We are not ungrateful people and we will pay back in 2022, God willing," he added.
The support from Uhuru's backyard is likely to embolden Deputy President Ruto as he sets his eye on the 2022 price.
The move comes even before Judge Maraga rules on the outcome challenging President Uhuru's re-election.
The Deputy President has not hidden his ambition to succeed President-elect Uhuru Kenya in once his term is over.
