The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) has reiterated that national examinations for the class eight pupils and form four students must be conducted within the set timeless.

Knut Eldoret East branch Secretary general Sammy Bor says they will not allow politics to interfere with this year's examinations calendar.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Bor insisted that national examinations were far more important than elections.

"Candidates have prepared for the exams and they know very well the dates set and changing that calendar will definitely hurt our children," noted Mr Bor.

"As a union we won't allow exam dates to be pushed even for a second or a minute just because of political arrangements. Let the children do the exams in the set dates and elections be conducted in a date set by IEBC," he added.

He also warned politicians against disrupting learning by holding campaigns near schools.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) set the Standard Eight exams to start on October 31 and end on November 2 while The Form Four written exams kick off on November 6-29.
