The government will not go back in the fight against plastics whose ban starts end of August 2017.
This is according to Environment CS Judy Wakhungu.
Speaking on Monday just six days to the ban day, Wakhungu said “nobody disputes the fact that plastics remain one of the serious pollutants and banning it is long overdue".
“Plastic is a serious pollutant that not only affects the environment but also wildlife, fish, livestock and human beings,” she said as quoted by the Star.
Concerning fears that the common citizen will not find affordable alternatives on the market, Wakhungu said the government has organised an exhibition this Thursday and Friday to educate mwananchi on the alternatives.
