Addressing the press in his office today, Daraja Mbili Traders Association Chairperson Erastus Manono said the market is currently in a bad state considering the fact that it’s a rainy season and they fear that they may get diseases due to the dirt accumulating in the market.

“We are aware that the county collects over Sh2 million per months from the traders but the markets still lack crucial facilities such as footpaths toilets and stalls to enhance trade for the locals who come to it,” he added.

The Chairperson also added that they have not heard from the county government since they had set aside Sh400 million to revamp the market and he wondered where the money went and who benefited from it.

“It’s well understood that the county government late 2015 allocated Sh400 million for the construction of a modern market but up to now we can’t really tell how the funds were utilised,” he added

The chairperson added that they have now organised for a demonstration and they will storm the office of the governor anytime soon if he doesn’t take an appropriate action.
