The recent endorsement of Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa for the seat of Nairobi Governor is continuing to attract mixed reactions with his fellow Western Kenya leaders being the latest to dismiss his bid for the Nairobi top seat.
According to them, the Water CS’s move is not sincere.
“Eugene is advancing his own interests and of other people, not that of the Luhya community. As a community, he has never engaged us and we will not support him,” Joshua Markunie who is the leaders’ coordinator said on Thursday.
According to Markunie, the former Saboti MPs ambition is to fulfill the power sharing deal they signed with their Central counterparts.
“We want to emphasise that our position is the same and we have not seen any reason to change,“ he added.
The leaders said that they had signed an agreement with the Dagoretti MP Dennis Waweru who is one of the leading contenders for the Nairobi seat on how the positions should be shared.
This comes barely five days after it emerged that Wamalwa was looking for a new political arrangement that will see him team up with the former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru to contest for the seat.
