The Kenya Meteorological Service has warned of heavy rainfall in the next three days beginning Saturday through to Monday.

Among the counties expected to receive above average rains are those in the coastal region, rift valley and western Kenya.

The rainfall bearing systems have established themselves over Kenya and the Kenya Meteorological Service is warning of an upsurge in rainfall amounts beginning Saturday through to Monday.

The weatherman says heavy rainfall of more than 50mm in 24hrs is likely to occur in counties around the coastal region, highlands west and east of the Rift valley.

They include Kwale, Taita Taveta especially Taita Hills and areas bordering Tanzania. Mombasa and southern parts of Kilifi are expected to be affected in the Coast and Southeast.

Other areas are Counties around Mt. Kenya region, western parts of Narok, Migori, Nandi, Kericho, Kisii, Bomet, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Bungoma.

Southern parts of Turkana and West Pokot will also be affected.

The Kenya Meteorological Service is asking the public to lookout for heavy rainfall that may result in flash floods and lightning.

Motorists and the public have been asked to avoid driving, wading or walking through any fast moving waters to prevent drowning.
