The wedding was to take place at Nyankoba SDA church in Monyagatanyi village, Kitutu Chache South Kisii County.

It is alleged that the man identified as Damian Moriango was unable to pay Sh200,000 to the girl’s family for the wedding to proceed.

“We were prepared to help our brother to get his happiness but we were shocked when the church announced that the wedding has been postponed to a later date because the man’s family have not paid dowry as agreed,” said Felix Nyakundi, one of the wedding organizers.

Moriango who is a secondary school teacher said the family of the girl had told him to pay the dowry in instalment but they later changed mind.

“We agreed with the parents of my wife to be that I should pay Sh100,000 for the wedding to proceed and after that I will pay Sh100,000 by August 20, 2018. It is unfortunate that they changed mind,” he said.

However, he said that he will pay the money before the wedding can proceed.

Mr Moriango also said that his wife despite being a police officer had contributed zero towards the wedding.
