[Photo|Parliament of Kenya]The Speaker of the National Assembly, Justin Muturi, has launched a week-long Induction Workshop for the Members of the National Assembly at the Intercontinental Hotel, Nairobi.The induction Workshop themed "Setting the Stage for the 12th Parliament: Preparing for a smooth take-off" kicked off Monday September 18 and ends on Friday, September 22, 2017.Muturi said the 12th Parliament has the onerous and honourable task of translating the aspirations of the Kenyan citizentry into realities, and called on the House to consolidate democratic gains and steer the nation towards economic growth and Social Development.Speaker Muturi promised to implement a paperless system in the House and urged Members to equip themselves with the necessary ICT skills for this purpose.
The lawmakers are expected to not only interact amongst themselves for the purpose of embracing team work, but will also be taken through the legislation process, House practices and procedures and operations of parliament. Members will also have a session on "The strategies on how to achieve work-life balance" given the societal expectations and demands placed on the Office of an MP.Members present include Suba MP John Mbadi, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale (Garissa Township MP), clerk Michael Sitialai among others.
