Following the recent bid from NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua expressing her interest in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat, former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has welcomed the latter's bid saying that it is within Karua's right to run for the position and any position of her liking.
While addressing the media on Wednesday, the former CS said Karua is free to join the race. She however exuded confidence of flooring her in the 2017 elections considering that Waiguru also expressed interest in the same position earlier on.
“It is her democratic right to seek election from the electorate. We are not worried as we have the support of the people of Kirinyaga,” Waiguru stated.
Despite there speculations in the air over Waiguru’s political interests with several political analysts surmising that she may run for the Nairobi governorship seat, the former Cs announced her bid for the seat in April this year, months after resigning from her position as Devolution Cabinet Secretary.
Karua who formerly ran for presidency in 2013 rested speculations on her political career on Wednesday, having announced that she would run for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat on a Narc Kenya ticket.
