Somalia's president, Mohamud Sheikh has stated that his government will welcome the refugees back to Somalia despite their reluctance to repatriate to the war-torn nation.
He further confirmed that he is more than ready to receive his fear-laden people at whatever the cost, expressing his personal conviction that it worries him less to hear of Kenya’s intentions to repatriate back the Somalia refugees.
Speaking on Monday at Hilac Primary School at the Dadaab Refugee Camp, President Sheikh thanked the Kenyan authorities for their continued hospitality saying that Kenya has offered a brotherly shoulder for over twenty five years when Somalia was under civil wars. He, however, asked the relevant government agencies in Kenya to undertake the repatriation process without any harm to the affected.
Regarding his surprise entry to the region, Sheikh said he opted to visit the camp to allay fears of compulsory and forceful repatriation with the main mission being to encourage the refugees to return back home.
“Despite the fact that Kenyan authorities offered the people of Somalia the much needed hospitality, the Jubilee regime should follow all the due processes. It is not be that we are going back to Somalia because we were a big burden to you, this should never be the case,” he added.
