The IEBC commissioners will not resign as such an action will set bad precedence on young institutions in the country,  the commission's chairman Isaack Hassan has said.

Addressing the press on Thursday in Nairobi,  Hassan said the allegations by Cord leaders the electoral body plans to rig the elections in favour of Jubilee come 2017 are false and alarming.

"We welcome criticisms but must be within the law. The commission is working hard to ensure success of the next polls," he said at the press conference.

The chair also said the commission is ready to engage stakeholders but it must be done in a civil and organised manner.

"I encourage structured meetings. Sustained bashing of the commission has led to the poor ratings of the Commission, however, the commission is confident this will change," said the chairperson.

He added: "The heightened interest in the commission is because the election is only 14 months away. We don’t have much time left. Election fever, panic and apprehension are to be expected as the day approaches. Each stakeholder, including the IEBC, must be concerned. We want to inform Kenyans that all and every concern is being addressed."

The commission was issuing a press conference on status of preparedness for the General Election.
