With the Opposition threatening not to go to the polls in which IEBC will be the referee, the Jubilee administration has said the electoral agency will be the one to conduct the next presidential election come what may.
Speaking after NASA leader Raila Odinga called for the disbandment of the commission with the alternative of the UN steering the repeat elections, Deputy President William Ruto said that the government will not be swayed and intimidated by the threats from the opposition.
He said that NASA are interested in making the elections look unfair so that they can be part of a coalition government after being trounced.
"We will have no grand coalition and the election will be conducted by IEBC. We will not have the Opposition playing around with us over disbandment of IEBC," he said.
His sentiments were shared by Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki who said that Jubilee was already deploying its people to the ground to ensure they trounce NASA by over 70 per cent of the votes in the repeat polls.
"We respect totally the decision that has been given by Supreme Court. We are ready, we are eager to go back to the grassroots. We will traverse this country and for the record, forget the 54 percent we got in the concluded election, this time round jubilee is going to sweep the votes with at least 70 plus votes," Kindiki said.
