Leaders from Western Kenya say their support for Jubilee Party ahead of the August General Election was unstoppable because they want to be part of the next Government.

Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa (Water and Irrigation), Governor Ken Lusaka (Bungoma), MPs Ababu Namwamba (Budalangi), John Waluke (Sirisia), Dan Wanyama (Webuye West), David Wafula and Reginalda Wanyonyi (Women Rep, Bungoma) said they have decided to work with Jubilee because it has proved it can deliver.

Addressing wananchi in Sirisia Stadium and Webuye grounds in Bungoma County on Wednesday, attended by Deputy President William Ruto, the leaders said the Luhya community will not be misled again to support individuals destined to lose.

“As a community, we didn’t vote for Jubilee in 2013 but it has initiated many development projects compared to those we supported when they served in senior positions in the previous governments,” said Mr Wamalwa.

“We overwhelmingly voted for Raila Odinga in 2007 and when he became the country’s Prime Minister, he never started any project in western Kenya that we can be proud of. This is why we cannot continue voting for someone who has nothing for us,” said Mr Lusaka.

Mr Ruto who is on the second-day tour of Western Kenya told residents in the area not to waste their votes by supporting candidates who had no agenda for them.

“I am confident Jubilee will win in the August General Election because our development record for this region and the country at large speaks for itself. We have done more in four years than what four previous governments did in 50 years,” said Mr Ruto.

The Deputy President said the National Super Alliance (Nasa) searched for its flag bearer for more than four years and that’s why it didn’t have time to come up with its manifesto for Kenyans.

“The Opposition wasted a lot of time in searching for its flag bearer forgetting to come up with its manifesto for Kenyans. That’s why it is doing copycats on our manifesto. Confusion is the order of the day there,” said Mr Ruto.

He said the Government has employed 500 youths at the Webuye Pan Paper Mills since it was revived; saying by January next year, 1,000 youths would have been employed.
