Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki has warned politicians against chaotic campaigns.

Achoki said rogue politicians who fane violence and hooliganism in their campaigns will have themselves to blame.Addressing journalists at his office on Wednesday, the county commissioner said police will not hesitate to arrest politicians who will be found instigating violence during their campaigns.He said police officers have been deployed across the county as political campaigns start ahead of the August 8 polls, adding that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure safety of residents.Achoki said a meeting with all sitting and aspiring politicians will be convened soon to discuss security.“We will be meeting all politicians to deliberate on how they will run their campaigns so that we can guarantee safety of residents,” said Achoki as quoted by the People Daily.The commissioner urged aspirants to foster peace and unity even as they woo voters, and warned youth against being hired by selfish politicians to disrupt peace, saying they will be arrested and arraigned in court.Political campaigns in readiness for the August 8 general election will officially start on Sunday.
