Governor Hassan Joho has accused Mombasa politicians allied to Jubilee Party of betraying residents.
Speaking in Jomvu on Saturday, the outspoken Governor said any politician who doesn't have the interests of residents at heart doesn't deserve election, and vowed to teach them a political lesson come August 8.Joho hit out at the Jubilee administration, accusing them of failing to compensate Miritini residents who were displaced from their land to pave way for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR)."Tunamwambia ndugu yetu yeyote anayeelekea mrengo wa Jubilee kwamba wewe umesaliti mahitaji yetu, matakwa yetu na mipango yetu ya siku za usoni. Haiwezekani....Ukienda maeneo mengine watu wanafaidi katika serikali yao. Ukija hapa mpaka leo ndugu zetu wa Miritini hawajalipwa (We are telling all our brothers who have decamped to the Jubilee party that they have betrayed us. When you visit other regions people have benefited from government yet our brothers here in Miritini are yet to receive compensation)," he said. While accusing the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government of plotting his political downfall, Joho claimed that the Jubilee regime is keen to ensure he loses in the August 8 polls so as to dim his dreams to vie for President in 2022.
