The donated items were delivered to the woman, Kamene Kakai Kavivi from Museva, after she hit local dailies for attempting to sell the bird.

Residents of Kitui town were left in deep shock when Kamene arrived at the market with the bird looking for someone who could buy the same so that she can get Sh520 to buy food in return.

According to the woman, the owl was a gift from God but it was not edible hence she saw it in order to sell the same for food.

The team of journalists from the station visited her home only to realize she is living in a pathetic condition. The woman lives in a house without doors, bed and windows. Neighbors also claim that she has a mental problem.

“She lives with her brother’s wife who has 8 kids; Kavivi’s house has no door, no bed, no window. We helped her with the little we had,” said Rose Mbula, a local journalist from the area. The team also promised to install a door and windows on the house as well as buy her a bed.
