Mathioya Member of Parliament Clement Wambugu has welcomed the move by former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth to drum support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election in the 2017 elections.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Wambugu said that such a move would make the voters of the people of Central Kenya be in one basket hence a possible victory for President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
The former Gatanga legislator has hinted at vying for a gubernatorial seat in the country with Nairobi, Nakuru and Murang’a counties topping his list of preference.
"We are happy that Peter Kenneth has joined President Kenyatta to drum support for his re-election in 2017. This will go a long way to ensure the vote of this community is not divided. We however call on him to make his decision on the county he is going to vie for a gubernatorial seat," Wambugu said.
It was however speculated that his entry into Jubilee Party will mean he vies for the Nairobi governor's seat.
On his part, Kenneth argues that any Kenyan can vie for any seat from any part of the country as long as he provides a constructive agenda to the people.
His re-entrance to the political scene has caused rumbles within Jubilee Party gubernatorial aspirants for Nairobi County with Water CS Eugene Wamalwa, Senator Mike Sonko, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru topping the charts for a potential Jubilee ticket.
