Mombasa Jubilee Party Governor aspirant Suleiman Shahbal and his running mate Ananiah Mwaboza have said the media is not the only campaign tool they can use in their quest to unseat Governor Hassan Joho.Addressing claims that they had disappeared from the public domain, the aspirants said they have been busy meeting residents in different parts of the county ahead of the August polls. Shahbal, who spoke on the sidelines of a three-day training of Jubilee Party aspirants at Coast International College in Shanzu, said they are not interested in showbiz. “We do not want showbiz. We want people to ask us questions,” he said, as quoted by The Star. The aspirant downplayed allegations that they are only active whenever President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are at the Coast, adding that the claims are not only malicious but also baseless.Shahbal said it is not mandatory to invite the media everywhere they go. “Just because we have not been inviting the media does not mean we have not been meeting people. Last evening we concluded a series of meetings with the Somali community in Mombasa,” he added. Earlier on, Mwaboza had said that rallies do not translate into votes, adding that they want to tell their people what they will do if elected. “Rallies do not offer these opportunities. We want people to understand our agenda and ensure they vote for what they understand,” he said.
