The last phase of voter registration kicks off this morning, Monday, as the IEBC aims to register 6 million more Kenyans in readiness for the August 8, polls.
According to IEBC chairman Ezra Cheloba, the commission is ready to hit the numbers that they intended, and have put measures in place to achieve these targets.
Speaking on KTN TV on Sunday night, the chairman said they have more officers and enough kits to move around in all wards, to ensure they trickle down to all areas across the country.
“We have enough kits to move around, and the least a county assembly ward can get is three kits, and we are talking of county assembly wards of 4km2,” he said.
“The largest distribution in vast wards, North Horr and upper eastern where we will see each assembly ward get at least 10,000 kits per ward,” he added.
He noted that they have deployed over 31,000 officers for the exercise, and have opened up the exercise to allow citizens to register in any ward within a particular constituency.
“We’ve been able to open up the constituency, if you want to vote in a particular ward, you have an opportunity to register anywhere within the polling station where you find the kit,” he added.
The exercise is the last phase before the country goes to the polls, and will come to a close on February 14.
