Thika West Sub county Deputy Commissioner (DCC) Tom Anjere has put on notice rogue political aspirants allegedly spewing hatred in their campaigns.

According to Anjere, some aspirants eyeing elective seats in the August election are perpetuating hatred and malicious propaganda against their opponents.

Speaking during a meeting with several political aspirants at his Thika office on Monday, the DCC warned that stern action will be taken against hate mongers.

Anjere stated that as law enforcers they will not tolerate individuals who are out to disrupt peace this electioneering period.

“Political aspirants eyeing various seats must abide by the law and desist from spewing hateful remarks in their campaigns,” he said on Monday as quoted by thikatowntoday.

The Thika West DCC said they are working closely with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to tame rogue politicians.

The DCC urged aspirants to preach peace and unity s they traverse the sub-county in search of votes.

Anjere also asked aspirants to conduct their campaigns within the stipulated time.

“We are not going to encourage political campaigns to go on beyond 5 pm,” he added.

The meeting was attended by area MP Alice Ng’ang’a and several MCA aspirants.
