West Pokot residents when they held a demo over West Pokot residents on Monday held protests over alleged theft of 3,000 bags of relief food by county government officials.
A consignment is said to have been delivered by Ministry of Devolution to help hunger stricken families in the county.
They alleged that the food was being repackaged and sold to maize dealers.
The demonstrations were led by Kapenguria MCA Maddy Polokou and nominated MCA Elijah Kishaushau.
The two leaders demanded be addressed by county commissioner Apollo Okelo and his deputy Khalif Abdulahi as they led members of the public who chanted 'Apollo Must Go!; Khalif Must Go!'.
"We will not listen to anybody. We want those mentioned to come and tell us where our food is," the star reported.
The two leaders asked President Kenyatta to take action on the suspects.
"The government sent 3,000 bags of rice, maize and beans. Nobody has received the food and the store is empty," said Polokou.
On Saturday night, West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo reportedly ambushed a lorry that was loading food from the store.
He said half of the population in the county was in dire need of food.
West Pokot Governor asked the Ministry of Devolution to investigate if the food they release reaches those targeted in all affected regions.
Governor said that such cases have been rampant in the county and chiefs have been blamed by locals.
