[Photo|Wilberforce Otichillo]Governors of the Western belt counties (Vihiga, Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia Counties) met at the Golf Hotel in Kakamega on Tuesday.The five met to discuss the possibility of establishing a state of the art Cancer Centre in Kakamega with satellite centres in each of the five counties to offer services to the people of the western counties."If the project materializes, it will open these counties to the global community in offering medical tourism as well as availing critical medical services to the nation," said Vihiga Governor Wilberforce Otichillo.The governor said the project has already attracted a donor from Sweden who is ready to offer funding on top of what the communities will be able to access to implement the projects.Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya chaired the meeting which also saw them discuss other economic empowerment strategies of the former Western region.Others included Governors Wycliffe Wangamati - Bungoma; Patrick Khaemba - Trans Nzoia and Sospeter Ojaamong - Busia.
