Western Kenya upcoming artists have been asked to engage in competitions for them to be able to market and brand themselves well.
Kisumu-based Event Organiser and Promoter Aleki Alex has urged upcoming artistes to be vigilant when it comes to competition events as this will go a long way in enhancing their marketability in the country.
“Competitions are there to award the best and those who are also putting more effort towards their artwork. This is why I am appealing to our upcoming artists to engage in such events,” said Aleki.
Aleki, who is also the CEO of Vybez Awards, added that for a long time artistes from Nyanza, Western and Rift Valley have been side-lined during national awards hence demoralising the upcoming talents from the western region
He added that Nairobi’s Kisima Awards majorly awards artistes from the capital city hence the need for the western Kenya upcoming artists to engage in competitions within the region for them to be able to be marketed even nationally.
Upcoming artists from the western region ranging from singers to models to dancers, DJs and MCs were awarded during the annual Tecno Vybez Awards held in Kisumu last month.
