Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua has told off Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula for saying that Cord leader Raila Odinga should step down for someone else to carry the flag towards the 2017 polls.
Mutua said Wetangula’s remarks were unfortunate and uncalled for.
“Raila is going nowhere. As ODM, the biggest party nationally, our candidate is Raila Amolo Odinga. We are neither giving our votes nor endorsing anyone else,” said Mutua.
“We have supported smaller parties which now feel big and want to cannibalise ODM. We will not allow that,” she added.
The Bungoma Senator had earlier in the week told Raila to drop his 2017 presidential bid and support either him (Wetang’ula) or Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
He however affirmed that he was ready to support any of the other principals if he would not be named flag bearer.
Mutua urged Wetang’ula and Musyoka to extend their hunt for votes countrywide if they were serious in their quest to become top leaders.
“Let our coalition partners target seats not occupied by ODM and field candidates there. They should stop targeting ODM seats,” she said.
Recently, Wetang’ula accused Raila of 'storming' his backyard with political rallies without involving him but Mutua advised him to embrace competition from Raila instead of fearing it.
