Two legislators from Western Kenya; Ayub Savula (Lugari) and Justus Murunga (Matungu) have hyped pressure on NASA co-principal and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi to prepare himself to run for the top seat in the next general election.

Speaking on Wednesday in Matungu, Savula said that the time has come for Mudavadi to go for the Presidency since he has once been a Vice president and a Deputy Prime Minister and therefore he should not accept anything less than the Head of State.

“Musalia Mudavadi has been Vice President and also Deputy Prime Minister. We will not allow you to get back and start telling us that you want to be someone else’s Minister or Deputy President. We will not accept. Go for that seat (Presidency),” Savula said.

Savula’s sentiments were echoed by Murunga who said that it is possible for a person from Western Kenya to hold the mantle as long as they are united.

“The other day we were in Vihiga and we made a declaration that all Luhya leaders must rally behind Mudavadi in 2022 otherwise they will face the wrath of the community and we started by giving an example,” Murunga said.
