The residents and supporters of ODM who thronged the public rallies and the venues where Raila addressed them, said in ODM they find a home that gives them hope of clinching the presidency in 2017.

The locals were reacting to recent defections ODM faced following Ababu Namwamba’s resignation as the party Secretary General and Paul Otuoma as the Vice Chairman and many others threatening to decamp.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya said ODM is stronger in Western region.

“The dissenting voices in the party are like a passing wind. I am here representing all the four governors from Western,” said Oparanya.

A Vihiga elder Fred Omido said the region will never leave ODM because it was the party that has not disappointed them all the years despite not clinching presidency.

“Those who are saying we are going to support other people are dreaming. Even in the Bible not everyone who left Egypt reached the destination. If other people fall on the way, we shall ensure we reach Canaan with Raila as our leader,” said Mr Omido.

Raila said the party is even stronger and that the problem the party is facing is normal and that they will overcome.
