He at the same time told the ruling coalition that the mammoth crowds that attend its rallies do not translate to votes.

Mudavadi told Deputy President William Ruto to stop chest-thumbing over the visits he makes in opposition strongholds saying such campaigns will not yield votes for the Jubilee Party.

DP Ruto on Saturday claimed his extensive forays into opposition strongholds were yielding fruits.

"The DP is in a dream where crowds are mesmerised at the nakedness of the king but who assumes that it is a display of love by his subjects,"Mudavadi said as quoted by the Star newspaper.

Ruto recently said that 15 MPs from Western, 11 from Wiper and 18 from Coast had joined Jubilee Party and that JP was growing stronger by the day.

Mudavadi however, said the MPs who defected have problems selling Jubilee Party in Western since they are not "with the people".

The former Vice President said the Luhya community was tired of insults by the DP and his allies and want to redefine themselves.

Cord is currently working on a 'super-alliance' with Amani, Kanu and Cyrus Jirongo's United Democratic Party.

ODM party leader is crafting the alliance that is expected to challenge the Jubilee Party in 2017.
