Western Stima took a big step towards Kenya Premier League (KPL) promotion at the end of this year, after thrashing Kakamega High School’s Green Commandoes 4-0 in a one-sided National Super League (NSL) match played at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Wednesday.
Despite the high score, the power men squandered many scoring chances.
"Today Stima squandered several chances. Our coach needs to work on our finishing department,” said Dennis Mogendi who is Western Stima’s head of communication.
Western Stima was relegated alongside Muhoroni Youth from KPL last year. The two teams were replaced by Vihiga United and Wazito FC.
The Richard Makumbi side now lead NSL standings with 34 points, 9 points ahead of second-placed Bidco United after 15 rounds of matches.
The first two teams in the 19-team-NSL will automatically qualify for KPL next season, while the third-placed team will face the third last team in KPL for a playoff before the winner earns 2019 KPL participation rights.
