Kakamega-based side Western Stima may soon have a new name. The club’s chairman Laban Jobita said they are pondering over changing the club’s name in order to have a national outlook.“Many people feel that the name Western Stima suggests that the team is meant for the Western community which is not the case,” said Jobita during an interview with this writer on Thursday.“We want to have a national appeal and we think the name Umeme FC will suit that plan. But as we speak, the team remains Western Stima until such a time when we will have the name changed,” he added.Western Stima’s players, members of the technical bench, fans and other stakeholders are preparing for life in the National Super League (NSL) this year after being relegated from the Kenya Premier League (KPL) at the end of last year.The team finished last year’s league campaign at position 17 and got relegated alongside bottom-placed team Muhoroni Youth FC.Vihiga based Vihiga United FC and Nairobi based Wazito FC who finished first and second respectively in the NSL, have since taken up Stima and Muhoroni Youth slots in the KPL.
