Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang'ula started plans to succeed Raila Odinga in the political space.

Speaking in a church service conducted at Christ the King Catholic Church, the Bungoma senator said that as Raila Odinga's retirement moves close, he is put to take the mantle.

Wetang'ula said he sacrificed his presidential ambition for Raila and that he is now better placed to take over.

"I let my ambition go in order to support Raila in the concluded elections and with his proclamation of not going for the top seat, I will go for it in 2022," he said.

In 2016, Wetang'ula launched his presidential bid at Muliro Gardens, Kakamega but was forced to step down for Raila under the NASA coalition.

He now says that with the experience he has, he is the one better placed to ascend to State House in 2022.
