Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has called for the reduction in the number of counties from 47 to 16.
Speaking at Elimu Evangilical Church at Makupa in Mombasa on Saturday, Wetang'ula said it was necessary to put into consideration what the Bomas Constitution draft had offered in terms of the number of counties in the country.
He called for the review of the current Constitution, adding that members of the public should have a vital say in the process.
"The current Constitution should undergo a public review and audit and the initial indication by the Bomas Constitution draft adopted. Initially, the country was to have 16 counties and thus the current 47 counties should be reduced to 16," said Wetangula.
The Bungoma senator also called on the government to increase funding to counties to allow faster and better development.
