An MCA from Bungoma has challenged Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula to reconsider his presidential ambitions and instead seek the county gubernatorial seat, the Standard newspaper has reported.
Speaking in Kabuchai constituency on Saturday, Barasa Mukhongo who is the Kabuchai/Chwele Ward representative argued that the governorship seat was the only realistic political seat that the Bungoma Senator stands to win, adding that the presidential race is more competitive and crowded.
"It is easier for him to win the governor's race than the presidential race, which is very crowded," Mukhongo said.
The seat is currently held by Governor Ken Lusaka who is in the Jubilee Party.
There have been speculations that Wetangula could seek to unseat Lusaka, reports the Senate Minority leader has downplayed as "mere propaganda."
In case he vies for the presidency, he could face off for the Opposition's presidential ticket with ODM's Raila Odinga, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka and ANC's Musalia Mudavadi.
