Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula has called on politicians who have shifted allegiance to different political parties from the ones that sponsored them to office go relinquish their positions and seek fresh mandate.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the Ford Kenya Party leader said the law is very clear on party defectors, arguing that the law is meant to instill party discipline.
"People elected on party ticket carry a responsibility to the party. In the wisdom of Parliament, we have a law that governs the conduct of parties and activities and people have choices. When you make a choice, be ready for the consequences," he said.
"When elected on Ford Kenya and move to Jubilee, you cannot continue championing Ford Kenya’s matters. We would want to see the law enforced and Constitution is clear on party discipline. They should leave those seats so that a fresh contest is carried out," he added.
