This is he, alongside Kalonzo Musyoka, and co-principals Musalia Mudavadi skipped the swearing-in of the coalition leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday, January 30.
Odinga explained their absence to thousands of supporters saying Kalonzo would be sworn-in later.
Explaining their absence, Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula sent a statement to the press shortly after missing the inauguration, saying they failed to show up "due to circumstances beyond our comprehension and control.”
The trio addressed the press on Wednesday, where they assured that their unfortunate failure to attend the ceremony should not be mistaken that they had abandoned NASA.
"We want to reiterate our unequivocal support to ensuring that electoral injustice in this country comes to an end. We indeed are fully aware of the online feud characterized by yesterday's unfortunate events where our security details was withdrawn and our entourage blocked in a bid to intimidate us," Wetangula said on Wednesday.
"We unapologetically reaffirm to our supporters that,we are strongly behind H.E.Raila Amolo Odinga and shall not be swayed by propaganda from the demagogic jubilee side. We are a people united and shall not be divided," he added.
Ford Kenya had earlier said the three of the NASA coalition principals were locked up in one room to prevent them from attending the swearing-in.On Wednesday Wetangula's party twitted:
"It's quite unfortunate that our 3 principals security details was suddenly withdrawn, locked in one room, and their entourage to Uhuru Park blocked."
"This will not stop our quest for electoral justice," added Ford Kenya.
The trio had affirmed that the coalition was strong and that they would meet "to address the immense challenges facing this country."
