Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has defended the power sharing deal among National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals as they seek to rise to power in the forthcoming general election. Wetangula, who spoke last during the meeting at the Bomas of Kenya in which the alliance official welcomed Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, said leaders accusing them of being power hungry have no reason to continue doing so.According to Wetangula, the power sharing deal shows their readiness to distribute resources equally among the different communities in the country.“Leadership is about power and power must be shared and dispersed horizontally to lead this country properly. The agreement on power sharing is finished,” said Wetangula, as quoted by the Nation. The Bungoma Senator cited a case in which members of his community share a cow before they slaughter it for the sake of unity.“You know, in our culture, the cow is shared before it is slaughtered – on who will take the hind leg, the fore leg, the head and who will have the ribs. That, we have already finished,” he added. His remarks come at a time when leaders from the ruling Jubilee party have accused the opposition of being driven by the desire to acquire power and not service delivery to Kenyans.
