National Super Alliance(Nasa) principal Moses Wetang'ula's political fate is now hinged on fellow co-principals following a successful ouster as Senate leader of the Minority position.
According to reports, the Senate ODM parliamentary Group resolved on Wednesday to replace the Ford Kenya party leader with Siaya Senator James Orengo.
And now the embattled Bungoma senator has to wait for a unitary decision from his fellow NASA principals to confirm his already sealed fate.
On Thursday, Senate speaker Ken Lusaka validated his removal from office after NASA senators met the criteria and threshold set out in SO(standing orders), although he has a temporary lifeline until a senator has been elected by the NASA coalition in the manner provided in SO 20(1).
"The senators resolved to remove the current Minority leader, in accordance with SO 20(4), and to replace him with Senator Orengo.I am satisfied that the senators constitute a majority of the twenty-seven senators belonging to the NASA coalition and that all the senators belong to the minority party NASA," he said.
He added: "The criteria and threshold set out in Standing Orders has been met and Wetang'ula has been validly removed from office."
But a defiant Wetang'ula has vowed to fight the ODM party warning that there will political consequences for his removal.
"If you want a divorce, it will be messy, noisy and not easy," he warned.
This comes shortly after NASA leader Raila Odinga unexpectedly reconciled with his political nemesis President Uhuru Kenya,a unitary move his co-principals have hence opposed.
