Wetangula, speaking on Friday in Nyamira town, said Raila is not the official opposition leader because he joined the government when he agreed to shake hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"It is time opposition leaders and supporters should be told the truth that Raila has joined Jubilee government. Raila does not represent opposition and he should concentrate working in government,” he said.

Wetangula said Raila betrayed opposition leaders and supporters when he joined Jubilee government.

“Raila is tired and should work with the government as he retires in 2022. We need to focus on who should carry opposition flag in 2022 presidential elections.

"I will be happy if I will be named as the flagbearer because I am fit to vie for the country’s top seat,” he noted.

Wetangula called on Nyamira residents to ignore DP Ruto who has been making unnecessary tours to the region seeking support ahead of the 2022 elections.

He said Gusii leaders should remain united and support opposition in 2022 elections because the region has been in opposition.
