Ford Kenya Party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has announced that he will seek re-election during the forthcoming general elections.

The lawmaker's announcement comes just weeks after he was unveiled as Opposition alliance NASA's deputy premier Cabinet Secretary should the outfit win the presidential elections.

Pundits have argued that Wetangula's decision to seek re-election is aimed at finding a fallback plan should NASA lose the presidential elections.

But speaking on Friday, the legislator said his decision is aimed at preparing him for his presidential bid during the 2022 polls.

"When you see a ram moving away, don't think that it’s a coward, its preparing itself to hit its rival very hard," he said.

“By defending my seat, I’m not a coward, even my friend, the Bomet governor, will be defending his," he added.

The Senate Minority leader will face off with businessman Juma Mukhwana, journalists David Makali and Boniface Nyongesa.
