Raila has been advocating for the change of the constitution to expand the executive and also create a three-tier system of governance as opposed to the current where we have 47 counties and the national government.

Speaking in Tongaren on Sunday, Wetang'ula claimed that ODM has been pushing for the changes so that Raila can have a seat in government and thanked Uhuru for declining to support the amendments.

"We don't have to rush to amend the constitution because of absorbing somebody in the government, we have to critically analyze various issues before we think of a referendum," the Ford Kenya leader said adding that Raila was only interested in reliving his every day's'dwindling political star.

President Kenyatta, amid his newfound unity with the former Prime Minister, trashed the referendum calls, arguing his focus was on delivering Jubilee's Big Four Agenda.

"I have no time to run around telling people to change the constitution. It won't solve the problems we have. But engaging with the private sector on manufacturing like we are doing will," the Head of State said during a meeting in Nanyuki on Friday.
