The Ford Kenya leadership has condemned an incident where police in Booker, Mumias in Kakamega County allegedly stormed residential homes and beat up residents.
It is believed they were looking for firearms stolen by thugs from a local police post, on Tuesday night.
Party leader Moses Wetangula criticised the act, and called for immediate arrest and prosecution of the officers behind it.
He said it was unfortunate officers who are mandated to secure citizens would go ahead and brutalize innocent Kenyans, in the name of looking for stolen guns.
"It is so bad that our security agency can attack and beat up innocent residents of Booker in the name of looking for fire arms. They were beaten up mercilessly and injured without any reason. The government must ensure these people are secured," said the Bungoma senator, Friday.
He was echoed by Ford Kenya deputy party leader Kakamega senator Bony Khalwale, who said the Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet must ensure no such incident happens again.
"I'm unable to sleep because of police brutality to our women and children in Mumias who never raided the police station for guns in th first place," said the lawmaker.
It is believed seven G3 rifles and 180 bullets were stolen during the incident, with thugs injuring an officer who was on duty.
One victim succumbed to his injuries after he was allegedly burned by the GSU officers while in his house.
