Besieged Ford Kenya party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has reportedly kicked off a union plan with Deputy President William Ruto.
This follows a meeting between Ruto and lawmakers drawn from Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties on Thursday, at Ruto's Karen residence, with sources indicating at a possible coalition between the two.
Though none of them has come out clear on the issue, reports insinuate that the union could see Wetangula, who was recently removed as the Senate Minority Leader by his opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) counterparts land a house leadership job, this time on the majority side.
According to one of Wetangula's close allies and Kitutu Chache South lawmaker Richard Onyonka, this could be the start of a joint political journey as the two approach the approaching 2022 general polls as a team.
"My take is after the handshake, most Kenyans are asking what is going on and in the process, you will see new alliances being formed. Consequently, the D.P is making overtures to individuals and groups not in his camp as he seeks to consolidate ahead of 2022," Onyonka is quoted by the Standard.
This also comes only moments after Wetangula vowed to give his National Super Alliance (NASA) co-leader Raila Odinga sleepless nights, accusing the former Premier of supervising his harassment in the hands of ODM senators.
