Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has declared that he will run for President in 2022- a declaration that may have far-reaching political implications in the NASA coalition.
Speaking in Kisumu during the closure of Bungoma school heads, the Ford Kenya leader who is also NASA co-principal insisted that he will not back down in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta even as he asked his coalition partners to support his bid.
" Without any fear of contradiction, I will be in the ballot in 2022 and I'm asking my brother Raila, my brother Kalonzo and my brother Musalia to let me try this horse this time," Wetangula said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
While dismissing claims that the coalition is on brink of collapse, the Senate Minority leader insisted that NASA leaders remain united like before even as he called on his fellow principals to remain as equal partners.
Wetangula's latest statement may reignite the undercurrents that have been running deep in the coalition over the past one month that has threatened to tear the outfit apart.
